Turkish Filmmaker Wins Instagram Competition

Kaplan International colleges runs a weekly Instagram competition challenging students to catalog their English journey with digital photography. Since launching, they’ve had over 3000 entries.

24 year old Eray Dinç, won by submitting the photo you see above. As you can probably tell, he’s got an eye for photography. Not to mention, he’s won 13 awards for his short films at events like the Istanbul Short Film Festival.

The Turkish filmmaker decided to take one of the Kaplan English courses in Oxford. As he sometimes attends the International film festival, he needs to be able to explain his short films to the judges and audience.

Eray is planning another short film about a student who forgets their own language when they are not speaking English. He’ll be working on this comedic fantasy while in Oxford until spring 2013.

Kaplan’s social media assistant, Hazel Francis, has been thrilled with the interest surrounding the #KaplanExperience Instagram competition. “It’s great to see so many students sharing their experiences with us from all over the world, especially someone as established as Eray”, she said.

Kaplan students can enter the #KaplanExperience competition by taking an Instagram photo and tagging it with the #KaplanExperience hashtag. The winner,  selected by a panel of judges, gets a prize of $100 in Amazon vouchers.
